Common Sense

Common sense is sound judgment not based on trained or specialized knowledge.
Most people are able to pick up basic skills, needed do simple tasks, and socialize within the parameters of their society. These basic skills; such as looking both ways before crossing the street, or thanking someone for holding the door for you, are common sense. Making a logical choice in any given situation without any special knowledge comes from how well you put forth common sense.

People have a different basic learned knowledge of what their daily life consists of, and Montanans value different common sense issues than other regions. Common sense can be as basic as being able to hold a fork, or reading certain signs posted on doors, such as; ‘do not enter’; well if you read the sign common sense would tell you not to enter. Common sense is applied daily and is a common knowledge among the mass population. Common sense is an action, something executed through a logical thought based on common knowledge. Common knowledge is generally known, such as opening a door. If the door happens to not open common sense may be telling you a variety of things, such as; there is an obstruction on the other side, the door is locked, or you’re pulling and need to be pushing, or it isn’t a door.

Common sense is usually a blatant, obvious fact, a logical choice in a basic situation. Common sense is not ranching; aborting cows with pine needles and is not common knowledge, even among native Montanans.
